Bollinger County SWCD Job Announcement
District Technician
The Bollinger County SWCD has an opening for a full-time District Technician. The technician will work in conjunction with the lead technician to provide technical assistance to landowners and operators in the county.
BASIC JOB DUTIES INCLUDE:
Basic and advanced conservation planning, engineering, and designing
Complete conservation plans and discuss with landowner expectations Bollinger County SWCD has for the plan’s completion
Employ ArcGIS software to create maps showing locations of designed practices for instillation and checkout
Verify practices installed meet policy, standards, and specifications through utilization of various technologies
Provide technical assistance and support to landowners, contractors, and operators during the lifespan of the practice being installed
Keep records of no-till drill rental and coordinate maintenance needed
The applicant must possess a high school diploma, GED, or higher education, valid driver’s license, must be a U.S. citizen or authorized to work in the U.S., and pass a USDA federal background check. Computer knowledge, basic math skills and an agricultural background are required. Position is expected to work outdoors in any type of weather conditions. Position requires regular and recurring exertion related to conservation work such as walking on rough, rocky terrain, ditches, and climbing steep banks. The applicant must have good communication skills, possess the ability to perform under high workloads at peak times, and be able to adapt to day-to-day changes.
This position is full-time, 40 hours, Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Benefits include paid holidays, annual and sick leave, health insurance, and retirement benefits. Starting pay is $17.16 per hour. Wage progression is offered through completion of training, testing, and length of service in addition to meeting the job expectations. A 90 day probationary period will be given.
